A Look Back at 2023

Together this year, we have planted over 14 million trees. It's hard to wrap your head around such a big number, but put it this way: that's enough trees to circle the planet 10.48 times*. Trees have a real and lasting impact on ecosystems, our climate, and livelihoods worldwide. And by choosing our most sustainable, earth-friendly products on the planet, you're wearing your impact and looking good doing it. *using the Douglas-fir at 30m per tree 14 million trees have a big impact:

• over 3,000,000 tonnes of carbon sequestered
• over 2,000 hectares of land restored
• over 100,000 hours of paid work provided

Read on to find out what we got up to this year. In February

• We launched our first collaboration sneaker with Saye. Bio-based, organic and made with recycled materials.

In March

• We launched new, innovative fabrics: seablend and seafleece made of ocean-bound plastic.
• We also took our planting efforts beyond the shore by planting kelp: the ocean’s equivalent to trees.

In April

• We increased our B-Corp score to 136.2, putting us among the top five B Corp apparel companies on the planet.
• We planted trees in Tanzania as part of an agroforestry system, which combines farming with tree planting on the same land to create environmental, economic, and social benefits.
• We celebrated 100 million trees planted.

In May

• We planted 10,000 cedar trees in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish BC) traditional territory supporting Indigenous efforts to restore forests.
• We launched our first ever sustainability report to maintain transparency on all of the steps we take towards our goals.

In September

• We expanded our circularity program to include take-back recycling for ANY brand and peer-to-peer selling through our consignment shop.

In November

• We revisited our mangrove planting sites in Kenya to implement new, industry leading technology to measure, monitor and verify our tree planting efforts.
• We were recognized with the highest rank in the Textile Exchange Material Index for our commitment to sustainable choices for the materials in our clothing, putting us among the top 6 participating apparel companies globally.

Throughout the year, we work closely with amazing organizations all over the world to ensure the trees are truly making an impact. We wrapped up 2023 with over 114 million trees planted. We’re on the path to plant 1 billion trees by 2030. Thanks for being part of our planting movement!
