Why Linen Is So Sustainable
Made from the fibres that grow inside the stalks of the flax plant, compared to conventional cotton, linen boasts a long list of sustainable advantages.- Flax is a rotative crop that supports agricultural biodiversity.
- Flax can grow in poor soil conditions and thrives on rainwater alone. We source our fibres from flax crops that do not require any irrigation.
- Fibres are extracted naturally and without the use of chemicals. Morning dew and sunshine help the microorganisms and bacteria occurring naturally in the soil to eliminate the pectin that binds linen fibres to the woody flax stocks. This sustainable method is known as natural dew retting.
- All parts of the flax plant can be used, generating little to no waste.
- Linen is a natural biodegradable fabric.
The linen used in our collection is grown in Western Europe and is EUROPEAN FLAX® certified. This ensures all the sustainable guidelines above are followed. To create the pieces in our collection, we mix this premium linen with TENCEL™ Lyocell. This super-soft fabric is made from wood pulp fibre and has a small environmental footprint, thanks to its closed-looped production process. When blended, TreeLinen creates the ultimate sustainable summer fabric.

Antimicrobial and quicker to dry than cotton, linen helps keep you breezy when the summer temperatures start to climb. It's also considered one of the strongest natural fibres, so you can invest in linen clothing knowing it will last you for many summers to come. Since it isn’t the stretchiest fabric, we recommend selecting the size that fits the widest part of your body for the most flattering fit.

Care Tips
While linen is naturally strong, we wanted to share a few important care tips that will help extend the life of your clothing. Maintaining your clothes will allow you to enjoy them for longer, reducing the need to buy new ones, as well as keeping them out of landfills.Spot Treat If you happen to spill something, try spot-treating your pieces before sending them for a full spin in the wash.
Machine Wash Cold To avoid shrinking your clothes, wash in cold water with other similarly coloured clothing.
Hang Dry Hang your clothes to avoid heat damage, conserve energy and save a few dollars on your next utility bill.
Skip Steaming Naturally textured and causally elegant, embrace linen’s natural rumpled look and try not to iron or steam it before every wear. Constant creasing in the same area can fade the material and lead to tearing over time.
