To us, sustainable apparel goes beyond materials. It involves traceability, ethical sourcing, and thoughtful design to improve recyclability.

We consider every stage in a garment's life cycle, from its origins to its journey post-use. We focus on low-impact materials, responsible manufacturing, and enduring designs that maximize use and minimize waste.

Materials

In the last year, sustainable fibers comprised 99% of our used materials. We introduced recycled spandex and regeneratively grown cotton, and almost 30% of the cotton we sourced was Fairtrade Organic certified. Our goal is to phase out the remaining 1% of conventional fibers and further improve our fiber mix.

Product Circularity

Our attention doesn't stop at materials — the post-use journey of our products is just as important. To combat the reality that 85% of clothing ends up in landfills and less than 1% are recycled, we launched our recycling and resale program, Circularity by tentree in 2022. In 2023 we expanded the program to take back and recycle used clothing from any brand and enable peer-to-peer resale in Canada.

In 2023 our customers returned over 5,200 items, equivalent to around 795kg of textiles diverted from landfills.

Supply Chain Traceability

In 2023, we made significant progress in mapping our supply chains across all stages of production. Around 90% of the fiber we used (by weight) can be traced to the country of origin, with some traceable down to the region of origin.
